National Democrats Formally Pick Caforio Over Vince In CA-25

Today national Democrats made official what we’ve known all along: they are backing carpetbagging Beverly Hills trial lawyer Bryan Caforio over local favorite and CA Democratic Party endorsed Lou Vince. This will only inflame the tensions between local activists who are behind Vince and the Washington kingmakers who have parachuted Caforio into CA-25 in an attempt to buy a seat in Congress.

But Vince shouldn’t get too worked up. The “emerging” candidate designation, the lowest tier of the Red to Blue program, comes with significant baggage: all 12 “emerging” candidates lost in 2014. By relegating Caforio to the back bench of the Red to Blue program, the DCCC is acknowledging that this district is out of reach for them while simultaneously thumbing their nose at local Democrats.
