How much does Mike Derrick want to raise taxes?

May 10, 2016

Does NY-21 candidate Mike Derrick support the Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton plan to raise taxes on North Country families?

Clinton wants to raise taxes by $498 million over the next decade, which will reduce the GDP by 1% and cost 311,000 jobs.  Sanders wants to raise taxes by $13.6 trillion – a plan including a $4,700 per year tax on middle class households – that will decrease the GDP by 9.5% and cost 5.973 million jobs.

Since Sanders beat Clinton in every county in NY-21 in the presidential primary, will Derrick join his Democratic base in embracing the Sanders plan to raise taxes, or will Derrick snub NY-21 Democrats by warmly embracing Hillary Clinton’s tax hike plan instead?  Keep in mind that Derrick said “A lot of the things that Bernie stands for, I will also stand for.”

NRCC Comment: “Mike Derrick should say whether he would support the tax hike plan of Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders if he were somehow elected to Congress.  Voters deserve to know just how much Mike Derrick and Democrats want to raise taxes on North Country families.” -NRCC Spokesman Chris Pack
