John Delaney silent on Obama Administration ransom payment to Iran
Last week, the Obama Administration admitted what everyone had long suspected: that they broke with decades of foreign policy tradition and paid $400 million in ransom to Iran for the release of U.S. hostages. Will John Delaney, who supports the dangerous nuclear deal with Iran, speak out against this reckless break from precedent that could encourage more hostage taking of Americans?
While John Delaney has stood loyally by the President’s Iran policies, Obama’s own Justice Department raised objections to such an egregious action:
“Senior Justice Department officials objected to sending a plane loaded with cash to Tehran at the same time that Iran released four imprisoned Americans, but their objections were overruled by the State Department, according to people familiar with the discussions…The timing and manner of the payment raised alarms at the Justice Department, according to those familiar with the discussions.”
If even Obama’s own Justice Department is willing to speak out against these dangerous actions, John Delaney’s silence tells voters all they need to know about where his allegiances lie.
