NRCC Announces 2nd Round of Young Guns
The National Republican Congressional Committee announced today that 6 Republican candidates have reached Young Guns status, the top tier of the committee’s three-level recruitment program. This round of Young Guns has reached the third and final level by establishing a clear path to victory through their ability to build a formidable campaign structure and achieve goals and benchmarks.
“I am proud to see another 6 candidates reach Young Guns status, proving they have reached the high standards of achievement that is needed to win in November,” said NRCC Chairman Greg Walden. “Their dedication and commitment to run strong successful campaigns is exactly the type of leadership our country needs as we build a more confident America. I am excited to watch them continue to work hard for their districts and I look forward to working with them in 2017 and beyond.”
Originally founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle, the Young Guns program supports and mentors challenger and open-seat candidates in races across the country. The program requires its candidates to work towards specific goals and meet benchmarks throughout the year to ensure their continued participation in the program. In the 2014 election cycle, the program helped to elect 45 new Republican Members to the 114th Congress.
