FACT CHECK: New DCCC ad lies about taxes in MN-08

Today’s new DCCC ad in Minnesota’s 8th District really goes to great lengths to mislead voters on taxes, falsely claiming that Republican Stewart Mills supports raising taxes on workers. To back up this bizarrely inaccurate claim, the DCCC ad cites an eleven-year-old analysis of a plan that Mills has never so much as indicated he supports.

But there’s one person in the race who has made clear his support for tax hikes: Rick Nolan!

Last year, Nolan voted for the Congressional Progressive Caucus budget that would have raised taxes by $6.9 trillion, supports Obama’s proposed $10/barrel tax on oil, and supports a job-killing carbon tax.

NRCC Comment: “Predictably, the DCCC has decided to air misleading ads in an effort to distract from Rick Nolan’s extreme record in Congress. There’s only one candidate in this race who supports tax hikes, and that’s Rick Nolan, who has voted time and again to raise taxes on Minnesota’s families.” – NRCC Spokesman Bob Salera
