NRCC Weekly Rundown: New NRCC ads in ME-02, MN-08 and NV-04, Zephyr Teachout is still a pandering hypocrite, and more!

September 9, 2016

run-down

And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:

National: Speaker Paul Ryan continued his phenomenal fundraising pace, transferring nearly $2.7 million to the NRCC in August. This brings Ryan’s fundraising total for the committee to just under $30 million since becoming speaker.

ME-02: The NRCC released a new ad highlighting Emily Cain’s ties to the toxic Hillary Clinton and her agenda that would hurt both Maine and our country.

MN-08: The NRCC went on the air with a new ad highlighting Rick Nolan’s votes for pay raises for himself, but not for our troops. The DCCC hurried to the air themselves to try to distract from Nolan’s extreme record by lying about Republican Stewart Mills’ stance on taxes, forgetting that Nolan recently voted for a budget that included a $6.9 trillion tax hike.

NV-04: The NRCC began airing its first ad of 2016 in Nevada’s 4th District, highlighting Ruben Kihuen’s shameless political ambitions and vote for the biggest tax hike in state history.

National: At a committee hearing on what we discovered earlier this week was actually a  $1.7 billion ransom payment to Iran, the Obama administration gave a startling look into the thinking behind the deal. Among other revelations, a State Department official admitted that the full payment was made in untraceable cash to get around existing sanctions against the terrorist-supporting nation.

National: President Obama announced his intention to close GITMO before leaving office, and bring the dangerous terrorists housed there to U.S. soil. While this is terrible news for the national security of our country, it will be welcomed by Democrats like Morgan Carroll and John Delaney who have been pushing for this dangerous policy for years.

National: The FBI released its report on the investigation into Hillary Clinton, which contained shocking descriptions of Hillary Clinton’s interview, showing that she claimed to not remember briefings due to a concussion, thought classification markings were alphabetical paragraphs, and frequently lost old phones. The NRCC asked if Democrats like Jim Mowrer, Pete Aguilar and John Delaney still think Clinton is honest and trustworthy.

National: A Washington Post reporter reported that swing district Democrat House candidates are refusing to commit to backing Nancy Pelosi for Speaker of the House. The NRCC asked Democrats like Jim Mowrer and Angie Craig if they would go on the record either for or against Pelosi.

CA-31: At the Commander-in-Chief Forum, Hillary Clinton acknowledged that Iran was likely cheat to get around the nuclear deal supported by Pete Aguilar. It’s clear that on Iran, Aguilar is playing partisan politics instead of looking out for our national security.

CO-06: Morgan Carroll released her first TV ad, but left out some information. Carroll neglected to mention her extreme views on foreign policy or health care, along with the fact that she is a trial lawyer who used her position in the legislature to push issues to benefit her industry.

FL-18: With the spread of Zika becoming a potential public health crisis in Florida, it would reason that the issue would be at the top of the minds of those running for office in the Sunshine State, right? Well not for Randy Perkins, who in a televised interview admitted that Zika was not one of his priorities.

MD-06: As Marylanders are facing double digit health care premium increases, Obamacare supporter John Delaney told Bethesda Magazine that he is not using his current office as a stepping stone despite mountains of evidence to the contrary, including driving around the Maryland State House in a billboard truck attacking Governor Hogan and shopping his resume at the Maryland Association of Counties.

NE-02: Brad Ashford is working hard to run away from his bad record on foreign policy, airing an ad that attempts to mislead Nebraska voters, while refusing to hold town halls. Ashford claims he is working to destroy ISIS, despite voting to defund the war effort against the terrorist group, and that he opposes closing GITMO, despite voting three times to close the facility.

NY-19: The NRCC continued its on-going series: Zephyr Teachout the pandering Super-PAC hypocrite with Volumes 9, 10, 11, and 12.

NY-24: Colleen Deacon is being really tough on herself. Deacon has been running ads on what she feels is the terrible state of central New York’s economy, while at the same time reminding voters that she served as a top aide in the region to both Kirsten Gillibrand and the Mayor of Syracuse, where she was charged with helping to develop the local economy.

PA-08: Steve Santarsiero released a new TV ad, and since he has no record to speak of in his seven-plus years in Harrisburg, he decided to try to exaggerate and mislead. Santarsiero’s ad claimed he did not accept perks like a state-leased car, but leaves out the fact that he instead accepted nearly $25,000 in mileage reimbursements, nearly $25,000 in hotel reimbursements, and hundreds of dollars in meal reimbursements.

VA-10: Tax-evading DC elitist Luann Bennett said she wouldn’t rule out voting for higher taxes if elected. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Bennett is ok with raising taxes on Virginia families given how out of touch she is.
