Raul Ruiz needs to apologize for demeaning “token” comment

Raul Ruiz really outdid himself yesterday when he completely disrespected a Navajo elected official.  During a House committee hearing on the Public Lands Initiative, Ruiz degraded San Juan County Commissioner Rebecca Benally by referring to her as a “token” spokesperson for her nation.

It’s shocking that a Congressman would demean another elected official’s service in this manner. Even more disgusting, it’s been almost a full day since Raul Ruiz made this remark and he still hasn’t issued an apology to Commissioner Benally.

“Raul Ruiz should be ashamed of the way he treated Commissioner Benally and of the demeaning comments he made about her.  If Raul Ruiz wants to save his dignity, he’ll issue a public apology for these repulsive comments.
