NRCC Weekly Rundown: New TV ads, more Super PAC hypocrisy from Zephyr Teachout, new polls show Bob Dold and Jason Lewis leading, and more!
And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:
National: The NRCC is up with new TV ads in CA-24, CA-25, CO-06, FL-18, FL-26, IA-01, IA-03, ME-02, MI-01, MN-02, NE-02, NV-04, two ads in NY-22, PA-08, and WI-08
IA-03: Jim Mowrer claims he is running for Congress to help those who need it most, but he has refused to take a stand against his own party to do just that. Mowrer continues to stand silently as Harry Reid blocks David Young’s “No Veterans Crisis Line Call Should Go Unanswered Act,” showing he is unwilling to buck his party’s leaders, even to help Iowa veterans.
IL-10: A new poll shows Rep. Bob Dold leading Brad Schneider 50-43 as the race heads to the finish line. Dold’s image in the district remains strong at 45% favorable – 32% unfavorable despite attack ads by Schneider and national Democrats.
Minnesota: Democrat Gov. Mark Dayton came clean on Obamacare saying “Ultimately…the reality is the Affordable Care Act is no longer affordable for an increasing number of people.” Despite watching health care premiums rising up to 67% in Minnesota, Angie Craig, Terri Bonoff, and Rick Nolan remain firmly behind the failed law.
MN-02: A new poll shows Jason Lewis with a 3-point lead over Angie Craig heading into the final four weeks of the campaign.
NE-02: At a debate this week, Brad Ashford showed exactly how clueless he is on national security. Ashford had no idea that Nebraska cities had been included on a “kill list” released by ISIS.
NY-19: Anti-dark money “activist” Zephyr Teachout was endorsed by a Soros-backed dark money group. Teachout hates money in politics…unless it’s helping her.
NY-24: It’s less than four weeks before Election Day, and Colleen Deacon still doesn’t have a national security section on her website. Meanwhile, Deacon took the time to call Rep. John Katko, who as a federal prosecutor endured repeated threats against his life and family, a coward.
PA-08: Brian Fitzpatrick and do-nothing Harrisburg politician Steve Santarsiero met for their second debate this week. The NRCC asked whether Santarsiero would finally denounce Hillary Clinton’s email practices, which he repeatedly refused to do at their first debate.
