NRCC Weekly Rundown Pre-election Edition: Final round of TV ads, Sleazy Randy Perkins gets even sleazier, Morgan Carroll embraces socialism, and more!
And here’s this week’s special pre-election edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:
National: The NRCC went up with new TV ads last week in CA-07, CA-24, FL-18, FL-26, IA-01, IA-03, IL-10, IN-09, ME-02, MN-02, MN-03, NE-02, NV-04, NY-19, NY-22, NY-24, PA-08, and VA-10
CA-07: Yet another Ami Bera donor is under investigation by the FBI for running a straw donor scheme. The investigation into Ibrahim Al-Rashad comes just months after Bera’s father was sentenced to prison for a separate straw donor scheme that funneled nearly $270,000 in illegal contributions to Ami Bera’s campaigns.
CO-06: Morgan Carroll gave up on her effort to trick voters into thinking she is a moderate as she fully embraced socialism. Carroll announced that she was holding a campaign rally with socialist Senator Bernie Sanders, who has made clear his plans to raise taxes and move beyond Obamacare to a government run health care system.
IL-10: Rep. Bob Dold and Brad Schneider met for another debate last week. Given Schneider’s shamelessly misleading statements in past debates, the NRCC asked whether Schneider would even pretend to tell the truth this time.
FL-18: Sleazy Randy Perkins continued his bizarre strategy of attacking a combat wounded veteran, cutting a new ad attacking Brian Mast for living in a handicap accessible home. Meanwhile, Perkins lives in a $10 million oceanfront home in Delray Beach.
ME-02: News broke that Emily Cain was involved in a Boston law firm’s illegal campaign donation scheme. Cain was the recipient of a donation by an attorney at the Thornton Law Firm, whose illegal practice led to a multitude of Democrats returning donations.
MN-02: Angie Craig spent the first two debate attacking Jason Lewis instead of telling voters where she stands on the issues. The NRCC suggested some questions that Craig had yet to address, including why she was still supporting Obamacare or why her company ripped off veterans.
MN-03: At her last debate, Terri Bonoff bragged to voters that she has repeatedly been willing to vote for unpopular taxes. The NRCC asked which of Bonoff’s questionable policies she’d brag about at the final 3rd District debate.
MN-08: Rick Nolan’s D.C. allies continued to prove they were willing to say anything to save Nolan’s seat. Two ads by the DCCC and House Majority PAC received an “F” grade on KSTP’s Truth Test for using deceptively edited footage of Republican Stewart Mills.
NY-19: Pandering Super PAC hypocrite Zephyr Teachout was up to her old campaign finance tricks again. Teachout was the beneficiary of an illegal donation scheme by a Boston law firm and was aided with $30,000 from a Super PAC funded by dark money and hedge fund managers.
PA-08: In a shameless display, do-nothing Harrisburg politician Steve Santarsiero took credit for opioid-related bills that passed the General Assembly last week. The problem? Santarsiero skipped town to campaign for Congress instead of voting on those bills.
VA-10: After months of completely basing her campaign around the presidential race, LuAnn Bennett suddenly decided questions about Hillary Clinton were a political distraction.
