Failure After Failure
February 23, 2017
Don’t be fooled—Obamacare has failed in nearly every measurable way.
It’s impossible for one to argue that Obamacare has been a success.
Here is how Obamacare has impacted the country since its passage:
- RED TAPE: Since passage of Obamacare more than 117 regulations have been finalized, with a cost to the economy of $51.7 billion, and an estimated 172,434,623 paperwork hours.
- 7 states saw premium increases of more than 50% for 2017, 47 states saw a premium increase for 2017
- 33% of counties only have one insurer on their exchange for 2017, 70% of counties have 2 or fewer insurers for 2017
- 5 states AL, AK, OK, SC, WY will only have one insurer
- Since 2014, average premiums for exchange benchmark plans have increased by 1 percent.
- As of 1/2/17 taxpayers have lost 1.9 billion on failed Obamacare co-ops, 18 of these government backed plans have failed jeopardizing coverage for thousands of enrolled patients.
- The Congressional Budget Office originally projected that 21 million people would be receiving insurance through the Obamacare exchanges in 2016, but in June of that year only 10.4 million were enrolled
- In 2016 the typical family had an average annual out-of-pocket cost of $4,300 with their employer-sponsored plan, this is up from just under $3,800 in 2014
