Other than the stunning moment where Jon Ossoff declined to say if he supported single-payer health care or not, his debate performance was filled with the same old talking points that he’s been recycling for the entirety of his campaign.

Another interesting moment was when the moderator asked Ossoff how he will continue his balancing act – keeping Nancy Pelosi and the “resistance” happy while simultaneously keeping GA-06 voters happy.

Spoiler alert: he has no good answer for this question. He knows that immediately upon arriving in DC, Pelosi is his boss.

Denis O’Hayer: “Assuming you’re elected, you’re almost going to be immediately running for reelection, and you’re going to need help from the Democratic leadership, which has been part of the help for your campaign. It’s a natural thing in politics – they are going to say, look, we helped you, you need to help us. You’ve talked about being independent. How can you, when you may need their help against a well-funded Republican opponent in the next election, should you win?”

Ossoff quickly spouts out a talking point, and then pivots to attacking his opponent. Yet another non-answer.

Jon Ossoff: “Well there is indeed a clear contrast in this race, as Secretary Handel said…I will be a fresh independent voice…Secretary Handel on the other hand…”
