It’s cold out there
After the Democratic Party’s devastating loss in Georgia, one House challenger in California has already announced he won’t jump in to challenge Rep. Jeff Denham.
Michael Eggman was widely expected to challenge Denham for a third time – but today, Eggman announced he will start a Super PAC to try to do in California what the DCCC has not been able to – win races.
Not that you could blame Eggman. The Democrats have been on the receiving end of searing criticism after dramatically overstating their chances in Georgia. Here are some headlines from just the past week in California alone:
- San Francisco Chronicle: Democrats look for answers after losing Georgia House race
- Los Angeles Times: After bitter Georgia loss, Democrats struggle to chart a course
- Politico: Why California Republicans love Karen Handel
- Orange County Register: SoCal Republicans have Georgia on their mind
- Los Angeles Times: After four special-election losses, Democrats need more than moral victories
- San Francisco Chronicle: The party that doesn’t know how: Democrats in disarray
Is the Georgia loss having a chilling effect on Democratic recruitment after the party spent $30 million and fell far short of victory? Time will tell.
