When it comes to single-payer, Tom Suozzi is twisting himself into a pretzel.
Dozens of liberal activists gathered yesterday to push Suozzi into heeding the calls of Elizabeth Warren and Nancy Pelosi to support a single-payer healthcare system. Recent studies reveal that it would cost taxpayers $32 trillion over ten years.

Yet he remains sure that what may be a relatively moderate district would see tax increases or the threat of them as non-starters. Hence his support of single payer health care “on an academic basis” only, though he supports other ways to increase coverage.
That’s not good enough for members of Long Island Activists, some of whom showed up at the VFW on Monday asking Suozzi to co-sponsor a House bill making single payer a reality.
Does he really think he can get away with supporting the socialist pipe-dream known as single-payer ‘on an academic basis’ only?
Maybe Tom Suozzi should stop playing political games and explain where he actually stands on his party’s healthcare proposal…
