socialism is a noble goal?

Last week I sent around a timeline that showed Tom Suozzi twisting himself into a pretzel over the Democrats’ socialist single-payer healthcare proposal.

Well, Suozzi’s comments last night warranted an update…

• January: Suozzi bows to pressure from liberal activists and signs a pledge in favor of single-payer.
• July: Suozzi says he supports single-payer “on an academic basis only.” (whatever that means)
• September 14: Suozzi tells Newsday he only supports single-payer if it doesn’t include a tax increase. (impossible)
• September 20: Suozzi calls single-payer “a noble goal” and “something to aspire to” while telling his liberal base to “come to grips with the political reality.”

What a roller coaster!

Did Tom Suozzi see the latest NBC/WSJ poll that reveals the vast majority of Americans oppose single-payer once they’re told it’s a complete government takeover of their healthcare?
