DiFi v. De Leon, Round Two
November 3, 2017
The DiFi-De Leon primary fistfight is just the tip of the iceberg for California Democrats. Yesterday, the nasty Democratic primary in California’s 49th District broke out into the open.
San Diego Union-Tribune: Democrats Doug Applegate and Mike Levin turn against each other in campaign against Republican Rep. Darrell Issa
A few highlights:
- Mike Levin started it. He attacked Applegate as a weak fundraiser.
- Applegate went nuclear, highlighting Levin’s record as a corporate lobbyist who partnered with ExxonMobil on carbon capture technology environmentalists despise.
- Levin is now refusing to comment on his environmental record, even though he touts himself as an “environmental attorney.”
- Applegate’s campaign estimates this will be an $8 MILLION PRIMARY!
Haven’t we been saying all along that crowded, nasty Democratic primaries would force candidates to waste resources, tack to the left, and ultimately divide the party? Buckle up. This is only the beginning.
