NRCC Calls on Ben Ray Lujan to Withhold Support for New Mexico Candidate Arrested for Stalking

November 13, 2017

Following the news that Democrat David Alcon, candidate for Congress in New Mexico’s Second Congressional District, was arrested for stalking, the National Republican Congressional Committee issued the following statement:

“After national Democrats’ failure to adequately address the fallout from Harvey Weinstein’s sexual harassment allegations, Ben Ray Lujan can’t remain silent about this gross misconduct in his own backyard. Given Lujan and the DCCC’s repeated insistence they will play in contested primaries, Lujan and the Democratic establishment must pledge to withhold support for Alcon immediately.” -NRCC Spokesman Jack Pandol

According to KRQE: “A woman attending a Halloween party on October 28 at a hotel in Santa Fe said she started receiving persistent texts from Alcon – some suggesting that he was watching her, other messages professing his love for her, and one picture of his genitals. Later that night, the woman said Alcon texted her again, that we was outside her window.”

A warrant for Alcon’s arrest was originally issued roughly two weeks ago.
