“preposterous”
Dr. Hans Keirstead, Democrat for California’s 48th District, might be the most arrogant Democratic candidate in America.
After alleging that Democratic leadership had promised him the Chairmanship of the Science Committee AND a seat on the powerful Appropriations Committee should he win – as a freshman Congressman – Minority Whip Steny Hoyer’s spokeswoman was forced to go on the record and call the claim “preposterous.”
Keirstead seems to have a pretty high opinion of himself nonetheless, declaring: “I will be one of the most influential people in science, medicine, and health care in this nation.”
And Roll Call adds: “Keirstead said the prospect of having influence, even as a first-term lawmaker, is one of the reasons he decided to run for Congress.”
Other than seeking titles and influence in Washington, why exactly is Keirstead interested in serving in Congress? So far, we don’t have a clue.
