this timing sucks
On the same night that Nancy Pelosi said she was not going anywhere, Elissa Slotkin called for new leadership.
Boston Globe: “We will win. I will run for speaker. I feel confident about it. And my members do, too.” – Nancy Pelosi
Washington Post: “I always believe in being respectful to leaders, particularly women who have broken [glass] ceilings. But I think it’s clear that on both sides of the aisle, people are seeking new leadership, and I’m going to be looking for someone who best represents my district and what we care about here. And I believe that’s a new generation of leaders.” – Elissa Slotkin
Wow. Now that is bad timing for Slotkin, who was flown in to Michigan to run for Congress by Nancy Pelosi.
Based on these statements from both her and Pelosi, Slotkin needs to do two things:
1. Put her money where her mouth is. If she truly does not support current leadership, then she needs to pledge to not take any money from Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer, Ben Ray Lujan, or the DCCC.
2. Commit to not voting for Pelosi for Speaker, unequivocally.
