distinct appetite for wealthy candidates

One would think that Steny Hoyer would hit the brakes on playing kingmaker in Democrat primaries, given the terrible press he’s gotten for his party. It was only one week ago that he came under fire for being caught on tape asking a Democrat candidate in a competitive primary to drop out to make way for the national party’s pick.

But today, Hoyer is on the Treasure Coast campaigning with Lauren Baer. He already donated $5,000 her campaign at the beginning of the year. Never mind that Pam Keith is still in the race, is actually working the district, and has more ties to Florida than Baer.

But what does she have less of? Money.

Pam Keith: “My party has a distinct appetite for wealthy candidates who can bring a lot of money to the table. It’s their favorite flavor.”

Keith should make sure her voice memo app is fired up and ready to go.
