Who needs enemies with friends like these?
The divide in the Democratic party is escalating from a family feud to an all-out, burn-down-the-city-and-salt-the-earth crusade. As the New York Times reports:
With their forceful intervention in Orange County, national Democrats have lunged into an impatient new phase of the 2018 primary season — one in which they are clashing more openly with candidates and local political chieftains in their drive to assemble a slate of recruits for the midterms.
National Democrats’ inability to unify their coalition has split the party into three camps:
- #Resist far-left activists who want to raise everyone’s taxes and socialize healthcare
- Wannabe-Conor Lamb DINOs who run on the Republican agenda and trash-talk Nancy Pelosi
- Washington Democrats (i.e. party leadership and the DCCC) whose efforts only seem to widen the chasms between their members and pit them against each other
The differences within the 2018 Democratic Party are impossible to reconcile, so the many factions have resorted to attacking each other in public for the whole world to see.
Voters are disgusted by the dysfunction Democrats have laid bare, and come November, will reject the party at the ballots.
