NRCC Weekly Rundown: Dopey Dems Ditch Budget

March 15, 2019

And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:

(National) De facto Speaker of the House and socialist darling Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gave American voters an unfiltered view into the insane worldviews socialist Democrats share during an appearance at South by Southwest. Not only did she suggest America is “garbage,” she also admitted her support for a 90% corporate tax rate, and said people should be excited about “being automated out of work.” Seriously? Good luck to all the vulnerable members of the socialist Democratic Caucus who will own this insanity in 2020.

(National) Speaking of insanity, socialist Democrats got a reality check after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi admitted she is not in favor of impeaching President Trump. Despite the news, Democrats are still demanding to proceed in an effort to please their radical base and billionaire donors. We’ve decided to highlight the split on impeachment within the socialist Democratic Caucus by launching a paid digital ad campaign in all 55 NRCC target districts. Will Democrats stand with Nancy Pelosi in opposition to the baseless attempts to impeach our President? Or will they once again roll over for the extremists running their caucus?

(National) This week President Trump outlined his budget proposal for 2020, and Democrats across the country were quick to feign outrage. If House Dems are so upset with the President’s budget, why don’t they propose their own? The socialist Democratic Caucus is so divided that they can’t get it together long enough to pass a budget. In fact, they won’t even vote on one. Maybe these Democrats need a reminder that Congress holds the power of the purse…

(California) California Governor Gavin Newsom issued a moratorium on the death penalty in California this week, even though in 2016 Californians voted against repealing the death penalty by more than 800,000 votes. This puts vulnerable House Democrats in a pickle, because their districts voted overwhelmingly AGAINST repealing the death penalty. So what do California House Democrats have to say? Mike Levin embraced Newsom’s decision, but as for the others? We don’t know – they’ve repeatedly dodged reporters’ questions on the subject.

(CA-10) Josh Harder recently published an op-ed in The Modesto Bee patting himself on the back for passing H.R. 1, the socialist Democrats’ first major piece of legislation. Conveniently, Harder left out that fact that H.R. 1 would funnel up to $5 million in public funding to his campaign account, and infringe on Californians’ freedom of speech. Instead of showboating, Harder should try getting to work, especially since H.R. 1 is dead on arrival in the Senate.

(FL-07) Following the socialist Democrats’ anti-hate resolution last week, Stephanie Murphy wrote a lengthy op-ed in the Orlando Sentinel blasting her own party for “missing the point.” Murphy claims the resolution was “watered-down,” but nowhere in her op-ed does Murphy mention an obvious and concrete solution to her party’s bigotry: removing Rep. Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee. It seems Murphy has fallen in line with her extreme socialist comrades and watered down her op-ed to match her party’s “anti-Semitism” resolution.  One thing Murphy didn’t water down this week was her glowing endorsement of “bad skater Beto” for President. Her endorsement is particularly interesting, since Stephanie has tried to paint herself as a moderate and Beto supports many extreme positions like open borders, abolishing ICE, and the Green New Deal. I guess priorities change when you are forced to conform with the unhinged socialist left!

(FL-26) Debbie Mucarsel-Powell also took to the airwaves this week to discuss the rampant anti-Semitism in the socialist Democratic Caucus. Like Stephanie Murphy, Murcarsel-Powell dodged calling out Rep. Ilhan Omar for her blatant bigotry, and on top of that, hypocritically proclaimed that “words matter” and lawmakers should be held to a “higher standard.” If she really believes this, why not condemn Omar by name and demand she be removed from the Foreign Affairs committee? After all, representatives are held to higher standards right, Debbie?

(FL-27) In the wake of this week’s shocking college admissions scandal, Donna Shalala immediately called for an investigation into college admission procedures. I guess Shalala forgot about her own ties to college corruption at the University of Miami, thankfully, the Miami New Times was quick to make sure Floridians didn’t!

(GA-06) Since we last called out Lucy McBath for her office’s slow constituent service in January, it appears not much has changed. A constituent of McBath’s is really letting her have it, writing that they called her office multiple times and never received a response. It’s strange, because the same week this constituent wrote the letter, Lucy managed to send out multiple tweets asking for money. Maybe it’s time for Lucy to call her office? Unless she still hasn’t figured out how to work the phones. If someone does by chance happen to get through to Lucy, could you ask her where she stands on legalizing prostitution?

(IL-17) After Democrats praised themselves for passing H.R.1, a bill that stands no chance of becoming law, Cheri Bustos says she and fellow Democrats “will continue their efforts to eliminate the role of dark money in politics.” Here’s what Bustos doesn’t want you to know: Her party received more dark money than Republicans last cycle. So will Bustos, who leads the House Democrats’ reelection efforts as DCCC Chair, denounce all dark money groups who spend in House races? Or will she look the other way, so long as it benefits her socialist Democratic colleagues’ reelection campaigns?

(MI-08) During the campaign, Elissa Slotkin committed to publishing her official schedule every week, telling her constituents they “should know how [she is] spending [her] time in Washington and in the district.” Slotkin quickly ditched that promise after assuming office, seeing as her official schedule hasn’t been updated for a month. I guess Slotkin is more concerned with winning the approval of socialist party leaders instead of honoring the commitments she made to her constituents.

(MN-02) Angie Craig joined other socialist House Democrats in refusing to call for anti-Semite Ilhan Omar’s removal from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. Craig seems to think she’s done enough in response to the bigoted, anti-Semitic statements regularly spewed by her colleague, but do her constituents feel the same?

(MN-03) Millionaire politician Dean Phillips recently stated his belief that “a campaign check should not be your ticket to representation.” Except for the fact that’s precisely how he got elected. With each campaign check signed to “Dean Phillips for Congress,” Phillips wrote his own golden ticket to representation, donating nearly $1.5 million to himself to get elected. Although Phillips talks a good game about getting big money out of politics, there is one millionaire donor he’ll never refuse money from: himself. Continuing with the “do as I say, not as I do” theme, Phillips built his campaign on “invitations and conversations,” and made a commitment to his constituents that he would be accessible, listen and learn.  So… why is he now throwing questions from constituents he doesn’t like on the ground like a piece of trash? I guess if you disagree with Phillips, you’re not invited.

(NJ-07) While Democrats including Tom Malinowski have praised H.R. 1 as a “good government” bill the real reason they love it so much is it will require the public to fund BILLIONS to political campaigns and even cover personal expenses. Need proof? Just read this tidbit from a recent Vox story where Malinowski admits just how big of a fan of he is.

(NM-02) With illegal border crossings on the rise, New Mexicans from border counties gathered to discuss the crisis in their backyards and vent their frustrations with inaction from political leaders. However, Xochitl Torres Small was a no show, and couldn’t even be bothered to send a representative to hear what her constituents are experiencing. I guess Torres Small is too busy blocking border security funding to actually do her job…

(NY-04) Former federal prosecutor and current Congresswoman Kathleen Rice also came out early to endorse Beto O’Rourke for President. Rice’s endorsement of the furry is particularly disturbing given her background in law enforcement, which directly conflicts with many of Beto’s major platform ideas. If you needed any more evidence of Rice’s poor judgement, just take a look at Beto’s poor dog!

(TX-24) Another candidate joined the TX-24 congressional race this week after failed Texas Agriculture Commissioner candidate Kim Olson threw her hat in the ring. This now sets up a Democratic primary with perennial losing candidate Jan McDowell. It’s going to be quite a contest to see whether Democrats decide to go with McDowell, a two-time loser who lives in the district or Olson, who’s only been rejected by voters once, but who lives elsewhere! Either way, the Democratic nominee will be an extreme liberal who will once again be rejected by Texans.

NRCC targeting House Democrats on impeachment

The National Republican Congressional Committee aims to pin House Democrats on the issue of impeaching President Donald Trump through a series of digital ads launching Friday.

The ad campaign is the latest sign that Republicans will try to tie vulnerable Democrats to their more liberal colleagues to win back the House.

“The socialist Democrats in Congress need to definitively state if they will stand up to the baseless attempts to impeach our president or if they will once again roll over for the extremists running their caucus,” NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer said in a statement. READ

DCCC Director of Candidate Services Falsely Accuses Greg Abbott of Involvement in College Admissions Bribery Scandal

The director of national candidate services at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on Tuesday falsely accused Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R.) of being one of the public figures embroiled in a massive scam involving parents committing fraud to get their children admitted into elite universities.

In a now-deleted tweet, Tayhlor Coleman wrote, “Maybe if Gov. @GregAbbott_TX spent less time dog whistling about brown people voting he could’ve helped his kid prepare for the SATs instead of BRIBING their way into college. What an embarrassment.” READ.

NRCC targeting four Florida Democrats with impeachment stance ads

Republicans are launching digital social media ads in Florida challenging Democratic U.S. Reps. Stephanie Murphy, Charlie Crist, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and Donna Shalala on their stances on the prospect of impeachment of President Donald Trump.

The 12-second ads seek to tie the four moderate Democrats in swing districts to the harsher rhetoric of their party’s left-wing and to demand that viewers ask the Congress members where they stand on the possibility of impeachment proceedings…READ.

NRCC Targets 4 NY Dems Over Impeachment Split
