DC native announces another run for Congress
May 14, 2019
More than two months after DCCC Chair Cheri Bustos announced that Gina Jones would once again run for Congress, and six months after she attended orientation despite losing the election, Jones finally announced she is making another run for Congress.
Just a quick reminder about why Jones lost the first time:
- Jones is a Washington, D.C. resident and owns a condo worth nearly $400,000 in the District’s luxurious Southwest Waterfront neighborhood.
- Before moving back in with her mother to run for Congress, Jones had not lived in Texas since 2008. (The Texas Tribune, 8/2/18; The Huffington Post, 1/5/18)
- Jones is a vocal proponent of closing U.S. military bases, telling the San Antonio Express-News she supports “the idea of another round of BRAC.” (San Antonio Express-News, 2/21/18)
- Jones supports the socialist Democrats’ radical $32 trillion “Medicare for all” single-payer health care plan.(“Accessible Affordable Health Care,” Gina Ortiz Jones For Congress; Gina Ortiz Jones, Remarks At A Democratic Forum For TX-23 Forum, 2/27/18) Minute 30:09 – 30:18
NRCC Comment: “If the definition of insanity truly is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, someone should check on Texas Democrats. Texans rejected D.C. native Gina Jones in 2018 and will do so once again if the socialist Democrats nominate her next year. – NRCC Spokesman Bob Salera
