FW: Maybe Slotkin should sit this one out
The Michigan
Advance re-upped an interview Elissa Slotkin gave last month when she said:
“What
concerns me right now is that it is totally unclear what our strategy is.“
So re-upping her interview with then-Senator John McCain who asked
Slotkin multiple times to outline her strategy during her failed
confirmation hearing (exchange begins at 2:45:40):
—
Senator McCain: “We
don’t have a strategy?”
Ms. Slotkin:
“I don’t think that–that’s not what I’m saying, sir.”
Senator McCain: “Tell
me what the strategy is.”
Ms. Slotkin:
“Our strategy against ISIL is, first and foremost, to defeat that organization
across both of our…”
Senator McCain:
“That’s an objective. That’s not a strategy.”
Ms. Slotkin:
“Uh-huh. So our strategy…I mean, if you’re asking what our goals are in Syria…”
Senator McCain: “I’m
not asking what the goals are. I’m asking what the strategy is.”
Ms. Slotkin:
“Our strategy is to defeat ISIL, to…”
Senator McCain: “I
just repeated, that’s a goal, that’s not a strategy.”

Yikes. No wonder she got turned down for the job!
Hi –
Elissa Slotkin, who was passed up on numerous occasions for an
assistant defense secretary position, boldly stated the Trump administration “does not have a clear strategy on Iran.”
That’s rich, given that Slotkin was tongue tied when then-Sen. McCain asked her
to outline a strategy, which is at least one reason why she failed to get
confirmed.
Presumably it’s also why McCain called her “totally unqualified.”
Given her lack of qualification and support for a deal that gives $150 billion to ISIS, Slotkin should probably
sit this one out.
