NRCC Weekly Rundown: Deranged Dems continue impeachment quest

December 6, 2019

Here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:

(National) This week Nancy Pelosi announced her deranged party will continue their endless quest to impeach and remove President Trump from office – something they’ve been attempting to do from the day he was elected. Pelosi’s announcement proves impeachment has never been about the facts but rather a baseless effort to overturn an election Democrats felt they were owed. Click HERE to read NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer’s statement.

(AZ-01) Republicans are having to step in and look out for Tom O’Halleran’s constituents because he’s too preoccupied with removing President Trump from office. Like with the creation of this new task force aimed at tackling the problem of murdered and missing indigenous women. It’s no wonder polling shows impeachment is so unpopular in Arizona. Tom’s constituents see for themselves that he isn’t getting anything done!

(CA-21) TJ Cox is using DCCC-poll tested messaging to talk to reporters and constituents about impeachment. That’s why Cox suddenly started using the term “bribery” when the GV Wire asked him about “quid pro quo” earlier this week. If TJ doesn’t think impeachment is political, why is he using a political organization’s message-tested language to talk to his constituents about impeachment? This is just another instance of TJ lying to his constituents. Click HERE to watch TJ’s awkward exchange.

(CA-45) Katie Porter (aka Batgirl) is causing serious DRAMA between liberal icon Maxine Waters and the socialist freshmen members on the House Financial Services Committee. According to Politico, Waters is facing “growing dissatisfaction and at times outright rebellion” from Katie Porter, AOC, Rashida Tlaib and other progressive freshman for not being progressive enough.

(CA-48) Last weekend, Harley Rouda told the San Francisco Chronicle he doesn’t see impeaching and removing President Trump from office through a “political lens.” But, Harley still hasn’t explained his flip-flop on impeachment from pro-impeachment in the 2018 primary, to “we’ll wait and see” in the 2018 general. Does Harley not see lying to voters to get elected through a “political lens” either?

(FL-16) Margaret Good’s campaign was blasted in the press this week for using “Giving Tuesday” to raise money for her political campaign. Florida Politics called Good’s move, “tasteless.”

(FL-26) While Debbie Mucarsel-Powell sits in on the Judiciary Committee’s impeachment hearings, it’s important to note her shady ties to Ukrainian oligarchs:

  • Her husband took $700,000 from firms connected to Igor Kolomoisky, who has allegedly been “accused of ordering contract killings” and money laundering.
  • Her husband’s connections have been called “highly suspicious” with a national security expert remarking that “When you work for a guy like that, you know what you’re dealing with…You know where the wealth came from.”

(GA-06) Nancy Pelosi said the impeachment sham has nothing to do with politics, but Lucy McBath must’ve missed that memo. Lucy has ONLY tweeted about her position on impeachment from her political campaign Twitter (HEREHEREHEREHEREHERE, and HERE), while failing to post any official statements on her government website or official Twitter. As the impeachment hearings move to the Judiciary Committee, why is McBath—a member of that committee—making this process all about politics? Her constituents are getting fed up

(IL-06) If Sean Casten truly believes climate change is the “greatest test we have ever faced,” why does he spend all day (literally) talking about impeachment? HINT:Sean’stop priority isn’t climate change – it’s baselessly impeaching and removing President Trump from office. Saving the planet will have to wait!

(KS-03) In case you missed it, Sharice Davids is once again afraid to tell Kansans where she stands on impeachment. I guess she can’t decide whether she’s more afraid of Nancy Pelosi or Kansas voters!

(ME-02) On WMTW news last week, Jared Golden said he’d rather focus on passing legislation than on his party’s deranged impeachment quest. But, it doesn’t matter what Goldenwants. The truth is he has failed to pass a single piece of legislation because the socialist Democrats – with whom he votes with 90 percent of the time – are too focused on impeaching and removing President Trump from office. So much for “putting politics aside, country first, and working as a team to get things done!”

(MI-06) Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer is getting all the attention, but socialist Jon Hoadley has been working for years to make private health insurance illegal. Between their dreams for a 45 cent gas tax increase and transforming doctor’s offices into the DMV, Hoadley and Whitmer are two socialist peas in a pod and Michigan families want no part of their socialist agenda.

(MI-08) I’m old enough to remember when Elissa Slotkin wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post pontificating over her support of impeachment. Now Elissa’s saying she “hasn’t made up her mind” on the matter. What changed, Elissa?

(MN-07) Cranky Collin Peterson is congratulating himself after the Trump administration granted federal funds to western Minnesota, even though his party is working overtime attempting to remove him from office. Peterson is taking credit because he can’t accomplish anything in Congress because of his party’s deranged efforts to impeach and remove President Trump from office. Sad!

(MO-02) It’s amateur hour at Jill Schupp’s campaign! Not only did she launch her campaign website without filing any papers with the FEC, but her team forgot to buy www.jillschuppforcongress.com (click the link if you’d like a chuckle). Guess you can’t expect much from the DCCC’s last resort candidate!

(NM-02) While Nancy Pelosi is giving awkward speeches about House Democrats remaining hellbent on impeaching President Trump, folks at home are getting angry that Congress has accomplished nothing on the issues that actually matter to them. Click HERE to read what folks in Xochitl Torres Small’s district are reading about Democrats’ failure to pass the USMCA.

(TX-22) Back in April, Sri Kulkarni pledged that he wouldn’t accept financial help from special interests. But this week he was singing a different tune, begging his billionaire friends to “drop $100 million each” into Texas. I wonder what changed? HINT: Ask Sri’s campaign whether they’ve polled recently!

(TX-24) This week Candace Valenzuela was endorsed by Higher Heights PAC, who also endorsed radical anti-Semite Ilhan Omar. In a tweet highlighting her endorsement, Valenzuela said, “It’s a joy to be counted among these phenomenal women,” which is troubling given Omar’slong history of bigoted and disgusting rhetoric. If Ilhan Omar is a “phenomenal woman,” does that mean Candace agrees with her repeated anti-Semitic hate speech? After all, you are the company you keep…

(TX-24) Giving Tuesday is supposed to be a day where people come together to support charities and celebrate generosity. But for disgraced war profiteerKim Olson, it was an excuse to ask for donations for her failing campaign. Olson sent out a fundraising email this week encouraging donors to give money not to help those in need, but instead to her. Shocking… but then again, Kim Olson has always managed to steer funds to herself instead of the greater good!

(UT-04) Ben McAdams – who supports impeaching and removing President Trump from office – isn’t getting anything done for Utahns. Just yesterday, Ben was touting his “work” addressing prescription drug costs and our national debt, yet NO legislation has passed. That’s because Ben McAdams and the socialist House Democrats are laser-focused on impeachment, not their constituents.

Morning Hot Dish: Minnesota’s budget forecast: a $1.3B surplus

Also breaking this morning out of Washington: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says Democrats will move forward with drafting articles of impeachment against the president.

Minnesota U.S. Rep Tom Emmer responds on behalf of the NRCC: “House Democrats’ unhealthy obsession with trying to remove the President of the United States from office and undo the 2016 election will cost them their majority next year.” READ.

Higgins’ top legislative priorities going nowhere

Rep. Brian Higgins entered 2019 with a newfound commitment to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi – and a newfound commitment from Pelosi that his two top legislative priorities would be among those the new Democratic House majority would tackle.

But a year later, those two top items – a big infrastructure package and a bill allowing people to sign up for Medicare at age 50 – have gone nowhere.

“Brian Higgins has failed to deliver for Buffalo over the past year because he is too obsessed with impeaching President Trump and kissing Nancy Pelosi’s ring,” said Chris Pack, a Buffalo native who serves as communications director for the National Republican Congressional Committee. READ.

Trade deal presents political conundrum for Democrats

With only a few legislative days left before Congress adjourns for the year, House Democrats are eager to show that they can legislate while also pursuing an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.

A massive trade deal represents their best shot at showing they can do so — but passing it would hand Trump a major political victory as he heads into the election year.

Blocking the deal, on the other hand, would also exact a heavy political toll. If Congress doesn’t ratify the “new NAFTA,” Democrats may not have a major legislative achievement to point to on the campaign trail next year — which could open them up to GOP charges of inaction and an “obsession” with impeachment.

Especially vulnerable are Democrats in conservative districts with large manufacturing and agricultural sectors, said Bob Salera, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee. He pointed to freshman Reps. Haley Stevens and Elissa Slotkin of Michigan and Abby Finkenauer and Cynthia Axne of Iowa, as well as to four-term Rep. Matt Cartwright of Pennsylvania.

“The fact that Democrats have focused on impeachment rather than getting the USMCA passed is going to be a political death sentence for some members of Congress,” Salera said. “Farmers and manufacturers in these districts need this deal in place.”
Even if Democrats do move forward, GOP candidates are going to remind voters that they had to “wait for Democrats to get their house in order,” Salera said. READ.

Poll: Impeachment ‘Killing’ Democrat Kendra Horn’s Reelection Chances

As House Speaker Pelosi moves toward impeaching President Trump, Parscale said that impeachment will imperil many freshman swing district Democrats’ chances of winning reelection in 2020, according to a poll released by  Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale.

“Nancy Pelosi is marching members of her caucus off the plank and into the abyss. Impeachment is killing her freshman members and polling proves it,” Parscale wrote.

Parscale released polling information on Rep. Kendra Horn’s (D-OK) seat, Oklahoma’s fifth congressional district, which found that not only do a majority of Oklahomans in her district disapprove of impeachment, they also want her to ditch impeachment to focus on improving the country.

National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Tom Emmer (R-NC) said Saturday that the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry will “cost them their” House “majority” in the 2020 congressional elections. READ.
