NRCC Weekly Rundown: Dem dumpster fire continues

March 6, 2020

Here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC’s Weekly Rundown:

(National) The Super Tuesday results show Democrats are one step closer to having a contentious convention battle that will tear their party to shreds. Both Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders want to raise Americans’ taxes, give free health care to illegal immigrants and support a government takeover of the economy, so either way vulnerable House Democrats will be stuck defending their nominee’s socialist agenda!

(CA-39) After publicly supporting and voting for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 primary, Gil Cisneros this week endorsed Joe Biden for President. It’s almost like Gil sold out Bernie because he knows if Bernie’s the Democratic nominee he’ll definitely lose his congressional seat…

(FL-26) Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s ties to a Ukrainian oligarch, Ihor Kolomoisky, just won’t go away! It’s being reported that Debbie took thousands from an agent of the warlord who worked closely with her husband, Robert Powell, and who also served as a former general counsel to several Kolomoisky owned companies during the time an alleged money laundering scheme was happening. Debbie must be scared considering she’s now lying to the free press to hide her Ukrainian ties…

(MI-08) Rep. Elissa Slotkin has been a leader among House Democrats pledging not to accept corporate PAC money, but the Detroit News pointed out this week just how meaningless her pledge is as her campaign accepts corporate money funneled through other means. Your staff won’t be able to take the fall for you this time, Elissa

(MN-07) Cranky Collin Peterson is running for reelection and we wish him luck explaining to voters in a district President Trump won by over 30 points why he votes against President Trump over 75% of the time and why he supports Joe Biden’s extreme socialist agenda, which includes free health care for illegal immigrants, unrestricted, taxpayer-funded abortion and ripping away guns from law abiding citizens. No wonder President Trump endorsed Republican Michelle Fischbach… Good luck, Collin!

(New York) In case you missed it, police in New Windsor, New York, arrested a sex offender for allegedly trespassing at a nursery school, but he has since been freed under New York’s disastrous bail reform law. Are New York Democrats okay with dangerous sex offenders lurking around nursey schools? What about rampant anti-Semites being free to physically assault innocent Jewish New Yorkers? Voters deserve to know.

(NJ-03) For those keeping track, Andy Kim’s first presidential endorsement, Cory Booker, dropped out. Kim’s second presidential endorsement, Pete Buttigieg, dropped out. Now Kim has given his kiss of death to Sleepy Joe Biden! By endorsing Biden, Kim now has to own Biden’s socialist agenda, including higher taxesfree health care for illegal immigrants and a government takeover of the economy. Good luck, Andy!

(NY-11) An illegal immigrant child rapist is free to roam the streets thanks to New York City’s sanctuary policy that prohibits law enforcement from cooperating with ICE. Just a reminder that Max Rosesupports this dangerous policy, so either he is okay with illegal immigrant child rapists wandering the streets, or he doesn’t care that the policies he supports put New York families at risk. New Yorkers can’t trust Max Rose to keep their children safe, especially since he’s proven to be more liberal than Barack Obama.

(NY-22) Anthony Brindisi has hit a new low of desperation, lying to New Yorkers about his accomplishments in Congress by taking credit for a former member’s work. Brindisiclaimed he worked to secure $2 million in federal funding for eco-friendly buses in Broome County. Not true! (See herehere, and here). He also took credit for funding a perimeter fence for the Rome Air Force Research Laboratory. Also false! Maybe if Brindisi put as much effort into doing his job as he did hating President Trump, he’d have some accomplishments of his own to brag about.

(NY-18) Democrat superdelegate Sean Patrick Maloney is ready to cheat Bernie Sanders out of the nomination (again)! When asked if he’d support Bernie at the top of the ticket, Maloney said Berniewasn’t going to be the nominee.” Does that mean Maloney will refuse to support Bernie Sanders as the Democrat nominee, even if he has the most delegates?

(North Carolina) NRCC MEMO: Despite Democrats’ best efforts, North Carolina remains a red state. Strong Republican incumbents and the Democrats’ embrace of socialism have completely eroded any chance of Democrats winning in North Carolina’s 8th and 9th Congressional Districts. Reps. Richard Hudson and Dan Bishop have shown how to run winning campaigns and will be helped by President Trump at the top of the ticket. Democrats, on the other hand, have failed to build strong campaigns or recruit formidable candidates, and will ultimately be dragged down by a presidential nominee who supports a socialist agenda. Click HERE to read more about North Carolina’s primary results.

(Texas) NRCC MEMO: While the DCCC has made a lot of noise about their efforts in Texas, the NRCC remains on offense in the Lone Star state. The Democrats’ recruiting effort in Texas flopped on Super Tuesday, leaving the party with a slate of candidates who have already been rejected by voters, are tainted by scandal or are too far outside the ideological mainstream to be viable. Republicans, meanwhile, have an outstanding group of candidates who are well positioned to flip Democrat-held seats red and keep conservative-leaning open seats in GOP hands. Click HERE to read more about Texas’s primary results.

(TX-07) Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be flying down to Houston at the end of March to hold a high-dollar fundraiser for her puppet, Lizzie Fletcher. This is just the latest example of Fletcher going back on her promise to not “take orders from Nancy Pelosi,” despite voting in lockstep with her 98% of the time. Fletcher’s proven she’s a fraud who can be bought off, so how will she return Pelosi’s favor this time?

(TX-10) The DCCC’s attempts to meddle in the TX-10 Democrat primary failed miserably on Super Tuesday as their preferred candidate, abortion lawyer Shannon Hutchesonfinished last among Democrats. With their preferred candidate gone, Democrats are left to choose from proud socialist loser Mike Siegel, who supports a government run health care system and the socialist Green New Deal, or socialist doctor Pritesh Gandhi, who wants to decriminalize illegal border crossings and give tax incentives to companies who outsource jobs to central America. Great work as always from Beltway Bustos and her DCCC crew!

(VA-02, VA-10) Pretend moderates Elaine Luria and Jennifer Wexton are both fired up to support their fellow phony moderate Joe Biden in the Democratic primary. This means both will have to own Biden’s radical ideas, including higher taxes, free health care for illegal immigrants and a government takeover of the economy. Good luck winning reelection on your party’s socialist agenda, ladies!

(VA-07) RATINGS CHANGE: Thanks to Rep. Abigail Spanberger’s obsessive hatred for President Donald Trump, VA-07 has moved from “Lean Dem” to “Toss-up.” Guess that’s what happens when you spend your time in Congress trying to remove the president from office instead of getting things done for your constituents…

News & Notes

Daily Beast: Lawsuit: Dem Donor Linked to Controversial Ukrainian Oligarch

A bespectacled Ukrainian oligarch with a strongman reputation popped up over and over throughout the Donald Trump impeachment saga.

And now, little-noticed filings in Delaware Chancery Court allege a closer relationship than previously known between that oligarch, Ihor Kolomoisky, and a South Florida businessman who donated to a member of Congress. It’s another example of how people and companies linked to some of the former Soviet Union’s most controversial oligarchs end up with connections to Capitol Hill.

In Kolomoisky’s case, this is far from the first congressional link. In 2017, Rep. Ron Estes (R-KS) secured a room in the basement of the Capitol Building for a fake congressional hearing. The focus of that hearing: lambasting a former Ukrainian official who seized control of PrivatBank, a bank Kolomoisky had previously owned.

And now a lawsuit filed in Delaware last spring alleges that a South Florida businessman named Uriel Laber played a key role in an alleged scheme by Kolomoisky to steal billions from that bank. (Laber strongly denies the allegations.) In 2017 and 2018, Laber gave a total of $2,500 to then-candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, now a Democratic member of Congress who flipped a Florida seat previously held by Republicans. Mucarsel-Powell sits on the House Judiciary Committee, which helped helm impeachment proceedings targeting President Donald Trump over his pressure campaign against the Ukrainian government. Mucarsel-Powell’s husband previously worked for firms linked to Kolomoisky, as The Daily Beast first reported. READ.

POLITICO: Republicans plot blue-state invasion in November

National Republicans are launching a multi-million-dollar field effort in four blue states, a move that comes as Democrats express mounting concern that a Bernie Sanders nomination could doom them in critical down-ballot contests.

The Republican National Committee is deploying dozens of field staffers to California, New Jersey, New York and Illinois. While none of the four states is remotely in play at the presidential level, each has numerous competitive House races and played a critical role in helping Democrats capture the chamber in 2018.

The committee is also dispatching staff to Nebraska. While the state is certain to go for President Donald Trump in November, it is home to the district where endangered Republican Rep. Don Bacon is seeking reelection.

The RNC plans to spend at least $4 million on field deployment across the five states by Election Day, according to an aide briefed on the decision. It’s an unusual investment, since the committee typically focuses its field resources exclusively on swing states in presidential election years. READ.

The Washington Free Beacon: Journalist Who Defended Katie Hill Failed to Disclose He Dated Her

A Playboy journalist who went to bat for disgraced former representative Katie Hill (D., Calif.) after her resignation failed to disclose that they were dating at the time her scandal became public.

The New York Post reported Saturday that Playboy Washington correspondent Alex Thomas was seen at a book party with Hill, who resigned in October after photos of her nude with a campaign staffer emerged. Leaked text messages seemed to indicate that she was in a relationship with a congressional staffer in violation of House rules. On Monday, Hill confirmed in a New York magazine profile that she dated Thomas beginning in “mid-2019” and that “in August, they went on a beach vacation together.”

The NRCC said it was a “sad day” for journalistic ethics in a statement to the Free Beacon.

“It’s baffling that someone who has sex with the subject of his glowing puff piece articles making now-retracted accusations against our organization is a credentialed member of the press,” an NRCC spokesman said. “This is a sad day for proponents of journalistic ethics along with those who read Playboy for the articles.” READ.
