Despite the DCCC’s efforts to meddle in the CA-25 special election, Mike Garcia’s broad appeal, military background and roots in the district have moved CA-25 from “Likely Democrat” to “Lean Democrat.”

Lean Democratic. You have to go all the way back to 1998 to find the last time Republicans picked up a House seat in California. But Democrats are increasingly worried about their prospects in the May 12 special election to replace Rep. Katie Hill, who unseated GOP Rep. Steve Knight in 2018 but resigned last August amid leaked personal photos and an ethics investigation.
