PLAYBOOK FIRST LOOK … THE NRCC has reserved $23.5 million in advertising buys across the country. These are all offensive buys — trying to unseat Democrats. This is an initial buy — the first, we’re told, of what they will lay out over the summer.
— BAKERSFIELD ($1.16M) and FRESNO, CALIF. ($1.78M): big bet on former Rep. DAVID VALADAO winning his seat back from Rep. T.J. COX.
— BINGHAMTON ($1.58M), UTICA ($825K) and SYRACUSE, N.Y. ($900K): boosting former Rep. CLAUDIA TENNEY over Rep. ANTHONY BRINDISI.
— CEDAR RAPIDS ($2.6M), DAVENPORT ($685K) and DES MOINES, IOWA ($1.35M): Former Rep. DAVID YOUNG is running against Rep. CINDY AXNE, and Rep. ABBY FINKENAUER and the open DAVE LOEBSACK seat are all competitive.
— ATLANTA ($1.45M), MINNEAPOLIS ($2.66M) and PHILADELPHIA ($3.6M): lots of races in these big metro areas. Atlanta sticks out for being a bit small for the challenges Republicans face in the blueing state.
— OKLAHOMA CITY ($725K): against Rep. KENDRA HORN … CHARLESTON, S.C. ($630K): against Rep. JOE CUNNINGHAM … HOUSTON ($2.06M): WESLEY HUNT against Rep. LIZZIE FLETCHER … RICHMOND, VA. ($600K): against Rep. ABIGAIL SPANBERGER … ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. ($540K) and EL PASO, TEXAS ($350K): against Rep. XOCHITL TORRES SMALL.
