Here’s what Christy Smith supports defunding

In case you missed it, Christy Smith yesterday tweeted her support of the LA City Council and LA County Board of Supervisors’ decision to slash their police budgets. 

Christy’s support of defunding the LAPD and the LA County Sheriff’s office means: 

• Budget cuts will take LAPD ranks below 10,000 officers
• 65 police officers protecting LA schools will be laid off
• A jail housing high-security inmates will close, leading to overcrowding in other jails
• The LA County Sheriff’s office will eliminate its sexual assault investigations unit
• The LA County Sherriff’s office will lay off 345 LASD employees, including uniformed deputies
