VIDEO: Eastman campaign confesses to several crimes
Comrade Kara Eastman’s campaign is denying that its absentee ballot “agent” scheme violates Nebraska law. So here are the facts.
Nebraska law states: “A candidate for office at such election and any person serving on a campaign committee for such a candidate shall not act as an agent for any registered voter requesting a ballot pursuant to this section unless such person is a member of the registered voter’s family. No person shall act as agent for more than two registered voters in any election.” (Neb. Rev. Stat. 32-943(2))
But in a campaign Zoom call, the Eastman campaign admitted to clear violations:
Eastman aide John Santner introduced himself: “My name’s John. I’m a field organizer with this campaign.”
He then confessed, “Someone like me or Mary Beth or one of the field organizers would go pick up their ballot for them.”
Santner then further incriminated himself, saying, “You can pick up two ballots at one time. That’s the max…You can end up going multiple times.” And reiterating, “If we ever needed more people doing that, we could certainly find them on our campaign.”
The Eastman campaign has lots of questions to answer about how many of their staff have broken the law with their scheme, how many times they’ve broken the law, and whether Kara Eastman ordered or knew about the illegal tactics.
