Does Matt Cartwright still want to defund the police?

With his new seat as Chair for the House Appropriations subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies, Matt Cartwright was just handed jurisdiction over police funding.

Cartwright’s selection is further escalation of House Democrats’ anti-police rhetoric, as Cartwright said in June of last year he was “absolutely” open to defunding the police.

Now that he has control over police funding issues, voters deserve to know whether Matt Cartwright will still advocate for radical policies to defund the police, or if he will back the brave men and women in blue.
