Murphy votes against getting people back to work
Today, Stephanie Murphy voted against two commonsense amendments (see here and here) that stipulate you can’t make more money on unemployment than you would working, and require states to verify an applicant’s identity and prior wages before authorizing unemployment benefits.
In fact, every single Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee voted against the amendments.
Small businesses across the country have raised this concern saying in some areas they’re having trouble finding employees because people can make more money on unemployment.
Why would Murphy vote against good government legislation that would put people back to work, keep businesses afloat, prevent fraud and save taxpayer dollars?
