New NRCC ad targets Axne on IA-02
Today the NRCC launched a new radio ad in Iowa’s Third Congressional District targeting Cindy Axne for supporting Nancy Pelosi and Rita Hart’s effort to overturn the state-certified election results in Iowa’s Second Congressional District. The ads will run on radio stations district-wide.

Background on Cindy Axne and IA-02
Cindy Axne came out in support of Rita Hart’s challenge in December, and has refused to comment on the challenge since.
Iowa’s lone Democrat statewide official, Rob Sand, said he disagreed with Rita Hart’s decision to go to Congress instead of court in Iowa.
Axne won IA-03 in 2020 by less than 2 points and received less than 50 percent of the vote.
Cindy Axne’s office previously said she will no longer work with any Republicans who voted to challenge certified election results.
At least eight House Democrats from states other than Iowa have gone on record with varying levels of opposition to Pelosi and Hart’s scheme.
Background on IA-02
After an initial canvass, Mariannette Miller-Meeks won the race in Iowa’s Second Congressional District.
Rita Hart asked for a recount across all 24 counties in the district. Miller-Meeks prevailed again.
After the initial canvass and a recount, a unanimous vote by the bipartisan State Canvassing Board certified Miller-Meeks as the winner.
Rita Hart elected not to use the appeal process available through Iowa’s courts, because she knew she would lose again.
Instead, Hart asked the Democrat-controlled United States House of Representatives to overturn state-certified results of the election.
The Des Moines Register Editorial Board condemned Hart’s attempt to subvert the will of Iowa voters.
Nancy Pelosi opened the door recently to overturning the results of the election.
The last time Democrats stole an election like this it helped lead to a Republican takeover of the House.
