Tom Suozzi needs a fact check

Tom Suozzi has apparently taken up comedy since abandoning his constituents, laughably claiming that New York City is “the safest big city in the world.”

The facts, of course, contradict that statement:

• New York City’s overall crime index rose 30.4% in April 2021 compared to April 2020
• In 2020, shootings increased by 97% and murders jumped by 44% in New York City
• More than 5,300 NYPD uniformed officers retired or put in their papers to leave in 2020 – a 75 percent spike from 2019
• The NYPD is facing a plunge in applications to join the department

But with Suozzi’s anti-law enforcement track record, it’s no wonder he wants to sweep the truth under the rug.
