Michigan law enforcement leaders hit Slotkin and Stevens
The Oakland Press reports southeastern Michigan law enforcement officials oppose the “George Floyd Justice in Policing Act” cosponsored by Haley Stevens and Elissa Slotkin.
Macomb County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the bill’s provision eliminating qualified immunity is about “punishing the whole class because one or two students misbehaved.” He added that, “taking away qualified immunity would not protect the majority that are doing everything right and working within the boundaries” of the law and policy.
