Portland set to surpass all-time record for homicides
The AP reports Portland is set to surpass its all-time record for homicides, a record set in 1987 when the city was in the “midst of a gang siege.”
Portland’s spike in violence comes after Democrat officials slashed $27 million from the police budget, leaving Portland Police Bureau’s staffing at its lowest in decades.
Still, Oregon Democrats Peter DeFazio and Kurt Schrader refuse to condemn Democrats’ calls to defund or abolish the police.
NRCC Comment: “Oregon law enforcement can’t trust Peter DeFazio and Kurt Schrader to have their back. They should be using their platform as Congressmen to sound the alarm about this terrifying spike in violence.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Courtney Parella
