Henry Cuellar doesn’t think there’s a “disaster” at the border
Is Henry Cuellar criticizing Governor Abbott’s emergency border disaster declaration because he’s worried about winning another Democrat primary?
Cuellar has been criticizing Texas Governor Greg Abbot for issuing a disaster declaration which authorizes local law enforcement to use state resources to protect border communities.
Cuellar told local Texas station KXAN that he doesn’t “think that this (the border crisis) is a disaster,” but in April, Cuellar had previously said, “There is a border crisis, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.”
Even the FBI says the border crisis is a major problem. FBI Director Christopher Wray told the House Judiciary Committee that there is “no question cartel activity from Mexico is spilling over into the U.S.”
So, why is Cuellar suddenly changing his tune? Do his Democrat primary challengers, Jessica Cisneros and Tannya Benavides, have anything to do with it?
