Democrats “Defund the Police” platform backfires as Portland shootings skyrocket

Axios reports “Democrats, in private and public, are warning that rising crime — and the old and new progressive calls to defund the police — represent the single biggest threat to their electoral chances in 2022.”

In Portland, homicides are up 533%, and Portland is on track to have more than 1,000 shootings by the end of this year. 
 
If Democrats are so afraid of being labeled weak on crime, why do they continue supporting efforts to defund and even abolish the police?
 
And why haven’t Oregon Democrats Peter DeFazio and Kurt Schrader stood up against their party’s Defund the Police platform?
