NEW TV Ad: NRCC continues to hold Golden accountable for Maine’s browntail moth outbreak

July 22, 2021

On the heels of the NRCC’s successful attack ad slamming Jared Golden for failing to curb the browntail moth outbreak in Maine, the NRCC is releasing a new TV ad today highlighting the economic impact Mainers are facing due to Golden’s inaction.

Maine’s tourism industry is suffering as tourists cancel plans to visit the state amid the browntail moth outbreak. And fall foliage tours are major contributors to Maine’s tourism economy, but browntail moths have defoliated over 100,000 acres.

As a member of Congress, Golden has failed to address the browntail moth outbreak, while other members of Congress have introduced legislation to address invasive species in their communities.

NRCC Comment: “Jared Golden had a chance to mitigate browntail moth outbreaks in 2017 but didn’t, and Maine is suffering the economic impacts of his inaction. Even now as Maine is hurting, Golden refuses to address the issue because he is an ineffective legislator, plain and simple.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Samantha Bullock
