NM-02 RECRUITMENT FAIL: Correa Hemphill not running

September 23, 2021

Another week, another recruitment fail for House Democrats.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports, “Democrats at the state and national level had encouraged New Mexico State Senator Correa Hemphill to run for Congress,” but she decided against it because “it wouldn’t be appropriate for her to seek a national office.”

Correa Hemphill’s decision comes on the heels of Randy Friese dropping out of the race for Arizona’s 2nd District and Janelle Perez quitting the race in Florida’s 27th District.

NRCC COMMENT: “Democrats don’t want to run for the House because they know they have no chance of winning.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Torunn Sinclair
