Extreme disarray
The socialists are not happy Speaker Pelosi is stabbing them in the back on infrastructure negotiations.
Here’s what they’re saying:
Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern: “My father told me when I was growing up, there’s a fine line between a good guy and a goddamn fool. I don’t want to be rolled.” (Politico)
Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib called Pelosi’s move “a betrayal,” pledging to “hold the line” and vote down the infrastructure bill. (CNN)
Illinois Rep. Jesús García said that he was concerned that socialists “could be hung out to dry.” (CNN)
Illinois Rep. Jan Schakowsky: “I’ve never seen @SpeakerPelosi bring a bill to the floor that’s going to fail. It will fail. It will fail if she does. So I’m not so sure. … If she were to call the bill, it will fail.” (The Hill)
Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, California Rep. Katie Porter, and Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal: “We, as leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, remain committed to voting for the infrastructure bill only after the Build Back Better Act is passed.” (CNN)
Missouri Rep. Cori Bush said, “Today is Tuesday. The infrastructure vote is Thursday. And I still will be voting ‘No’ unless we first pass the Build Back Better Act to deliver universal pre-K, tuition-free community college, Medicare expansion, paid leave, climate action, and so much more.” (Twitter)
California Rep. Ro Khanna: “Let’s be clear: there’s no passing the infrastructure bill without passing the Build Back Better Act.” (Twitter)
New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: “Our caucus is strongest when it’s unified, and decoupling these bills, it starts to pit priorities against one another… And that’s why I disagree with separating them.” (CNN)
