Phillips says Dems should be willing to lose
Dean Phillips told the New York Times that Nancy Pelosi’s socialist big government tax and spending spree is worth losing his job over.
Representative Dean Phillips, Democrat of Minnesota, called the election results a “wake-up call” for members of his party pushing overly ideological positions that failed on Tuesday, like a ballot initiative in his state to abolish police departments. But, he said, his prescription was to listen to voters more, not to delay or scale back the ambitious social policy bill.
“Truth be told,” [Phillips] said, “it’s such transformative policy for the country that most of us should be willing to lose our jobs over it.”
NRCC Comment: “Dean Phillips is correct that voting for Nancy Pelosi’s socialist big government tax and spending spree will cost him his job. Phillips’ promise to govern as a moderate was a flat-out lie.” – NRCC Spokesman Mike Berg
