In 2021, Republicans went from a 9-point deficit in party identification to a 5-point lead, according to Gallup. This is the largest advantage Republicans have held in party ID since they took back the House in 1994.

Why? Just look at the latest poll from CBS.

• A majority of voters (52%) say Biden’s policies have made the economy worse compared to just 25% who say his policies have made the economy better.
• Two-thirds of voters disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy and inflation.
• Biden’s approval on handling COVID is down nearly 20 points since March 2020.
• Just one-third of voters say Biden and Democrats are focusing on issues they “care a lot about.”
