NYC sees first-quarter crime spike

April 7, 2022

New York City saw an uptick in shootings during the first three months of the year compared to the same time last year, increasing from 260 to 296.

The first quarter of the year also saw a rise “in crimes like burglaries, robberies and grand larcenies.”

The New York Times reports, “This New York is more dangerous by some measures than the one many residents lived in at the start of the pandemic, in the spring of 2020.”
