NY-19’s “no-show” congressman

May 23, 2022

Antonio Delgado has not voted in person since May 10, Mid-Hudson News reports.

Delgado has been a “no-show” in Congress since shortly after Gov. Hochul tapped him to be lieutenant governor, citing COVID to designate Colorado Democrat Joe Neguse as his proxy to vote in his absence.

There is still no date set for a special election in NY-19, as Delgado refuses to say when he’ll resign from the House and be sworn in as LG.

NRCC Comment: “New York Democrats are delaying a special election in NY-19 to prevent the seat from flipping into Republican hands, and they’re purposely leaving the district without representation in Congress as a result.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Samantha Bullock
