What Democrats are saying about Christy Smith

California Democrats are stuck for a third time running proven loser Christy Smith against Navy Fighter Pilot Mike Garcia. 

Here’s a look back at what Democrats’ have said about Christy Smith: 

New Democrat Coalition Action Fund Rep. Brad Schneider: “We’ve tried and failed twice in this district to beat Garcia. The assessment is that Quaye is the best person whose going to make sure we get over the hump.”

Palmdale voter: “We have to match Mike Garcia’s resume and she just doesn’t cut it.”

Bloomberg: “The seat’s importance has led some Democrats to re-evaluate Smith’s ability to win after her previous losses.”

Politico: But some national Democrats are pushing for first-time candidate Quaye Quartey. He and his supporters argue he’s a better contender against Garcia.

National Journal: “National Democrats privately are rooting for Quartey, concerned about Smith’s 0-2 record against Garcia last cycle.”

Business Insider: “In addition to national Democrats being concerned with Smith’s fundraising not being impressive enough, according to HuffPost, Smith further got herself in hot water for seemingly mocking Garcia’s military service and credentials for office in a video town hall. She publicly apologized after sarcastically joking of Garcia, ‘Did you guys know he’s a pilot?’”
