Cook Political Report moves CA-40 toward GOP
The Cook Political Report just moved CA-40 in Republicans’ direction, deeming it a Likely Republican.
They write:
“Democrats were surreptitiously seeking to put the fall race in play by boosting far-right activist Greg Raths against Kim, a self-styled moderate freshman, in the June top-two primary. But the gambit failed, as Kim easily dispatched Raths, 35 percent to 23 percent, for the second runoff slot. Aided by a much redder district than before, Kim is the heavy favorite over Democratic physician Asif Mahmood (41 percent) in the fall.”
NRCC Comment: “Californians are tired of Democrats’ policies that have caused record inflation and California’s highest-in-the-nation gas prices, and will reelect Young Kim.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Torunn Sinclair
