Colorado mother “can’t afford” to visit her kids, thanks to inflation
August 10, 2022
The Washington Post reports that “food costs have climbed every month this year. Groceries are 12.2 percent higher now than they were last summer — the biggest year-over-year spike in 43 years.”
Carolyn Jemison has had to trim her grocery budget and cut back at the gas pump. She says, “I can’t afford to drive my car to visit [my] kids.”
But as Coloradans like Carolyn struggled with rising inflation, Yadira Caraveo and Brittany Pettersen created new taxes on everything from gas prices to delivery fees.
