Eric Sorensen tweeted something that may be seen as insensitive to some.

“It doesn’t get more desperate than Eric Sorensen shamelessly fundraising off a deadly derecho that killed four people,” said NRCC Spokeswoman Courtney Parella

In 2020, Illinois was hit hard by a derecho with winds of 70-115 m.p.h, leaving behind a path of destruction.

Almost 700,000 Illinois residents were left without power and 1.4 million in the region.

According to the National Weather Service, with the hot, and most of the time, humid weather conditions that come with summer in the Ohio Valley the threat of a somewhat rare type of severe thunderstorm event also looms. The event is known as a derecho.

Derechos in the United States most commonly occur along two axes. One extends along the “Corn Belt” from the upper Mississippi Valley southeast into the Ohio Valley, and the other from the southern Plains northeast into the mid-Mississippi Valley.

Cities 92.9 has reached out to Sorensen’s team for comment and this story will be edited if we receive a response.
