Golden silent as Seafood Watch recommends avoiding Maine lobster to protect right whale

Seafood Watch issued a recommendation this week that consumers avoid eating Maine lobster because they claim the U.S. lobster industry isn’t doing enough to protect the North Atlantic right whale.

The recommendation comes on the heels of reporting that Jared Golden has voted multiple times to strengthen the agency responsible for cracking down on lobstermen, including enforcing new burdensome gear requirements that threaten their livelihoods to protect the right whale.

Golden is notably silent about Seafood Watch’s latest recommendation.
