Darling of bail reform wanted for attempted murder
A “darling” of bail reform advocates is now wanted for attempted murder.
Career criminal Pedro Hernandez has been arrested over 15 times, including for a 2015 Bronx bodega shooting that led him to become “a cause celebrity for criminal-justice advocates” who then bailed him out of Rikers Island on reduced bail.
Now he’s wanted for attempted murder after shooting into an occupied vehicle… over a card trick.
Someone should ask Sean Patrick Maloney if this is what he had in mind when he said ending cash bail was a “top priority.”
